There's so many great guitar solo in the world. so which one is the best? Well you can check the list below that we got from England's Guitarist Magazine. Recently they do a polling to select the best guitar solo ever. and shockingly most of the guitarist on the list was a Veteran Rock guitarist.

The results were a rather standard list of rock guitar greatness topped by a rather unlikely record, 2007's Blackbird by post-Creed rockers Alter Bridge. It received 16.52% of the final vote (compared with number 20's .57%). In between are two from Eddie Van Halen (one with Van Halen and one for Michael Jackson), Slash, John Petrucci, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix.

Tom Hess was known as an online guitar teacher. he does much more than helping guitar players from all over the world improve their guitar playing. His company, Tom Hess Music Corporation also helps music teachers build highly successful music teaching businesses and has a separate mentoring program for musicians to develop, sustain and expand a successful music career

Hess played guitar in the internationally renowned melodic metal band HolyHell from 2004-2007 touring both North America and Europe twice as the opening act for Rhapsody of Fire and Manowar.

Tom Hess was invited by Luca Turilli the lead guitarist of Rhapsody of fire to join the band. "Luca asked me to join the band and then 3 days later had me beginning to record the new album. I hadn't even heard the songs yet. It was like, 'here are the songs, start recording them all today', so I quickly learned the songs and began recording," Hess said. The band's new album "From Chaos To Eternity" will be released June 17, 2011.

Learning to play the guitar is something that will give you years of enjoyment. There is something about an instrument that allows you to basically be a one man band. It just draws people to it. There are so many different forms of music, with the guitar you are not limited to what style of music you would like to play. If you have always wanted to learn how to play the guitar then keep reading.

I can think of few other instruments that allow you to not only play music but also give you the capability to entertain with song. There have been countless famous musicians who have played with nothing more than a microphone and a guitar. There's something about a song with only a guitar behind it that can reach out and grab people's emotions.

I'm sure at one point in time you have wanted to learn how to play the guitar. There is just something about that instrument that if someone can play it they are automatically cool. I know it sounds like a stereotype but can you really tell me I'm wrong? There are countless ways to learn guitar. Below you will find a few that may interest you.

Learning by ear is one way that you may be able to learn the guitar. Some people are just born with natural talent. These are the ones that can pick an instrument for the first time and two weeks later can play every song you have ever heard. If you are able to do this, then I envy you . And so do a lot of other people.

Another way to learn how to play the guitar is through a instructor. Many people like this way, but it can quickly become very expensive. The problem with learning this way is that you are being taught to play the same way your instructor plays. Trust me there are many different theories on how the guitar should be played.

If you are just starting with the electric guitar do a search for "basic guitar lessons". When you're looking at the electric guitar lessons on the internet don't worry if you don't like what you see. When you are browsing the free electric guitar lessons on the internet take note of the kind of information you can get without paying. If you go with free lessons when you first start playing the electric guitar, quite possibly even after some months you will still not be playing a complete song. Free guitar lessons cannot give you the impetus to set up a practice regime for yourself and to systematically learn chords in different positions on the guitar fretboard, practice chord progressions, and then put this knowledge into practice with some of your favorite songs. These day.. 8^th december 20 years ago.. the world lose one of the best musician in the world, that was john winston lennon.. or we known as John Lennon.. he was one of the beatles member and lead singer.. and the composer of most of the beatles song along with paul mccartney.. You know maybe when john's death i haven't born.. but i really like the beatles and all the members history and solo career..and also john been active as Peace activist

Lennon had two sons: Julian Lennon, with his first wife Cynthia Lennon, and Sean Ono Lennon, with his second wife, avant-garde artist Yoko Ono. After a self-imposed retirement from 1976 to 1980, Lennon reemerged with a comeback album, but was murdered one month later in New York City on 8 December 1980. In 2002, respondents to a BBC poll on the 100 Greatest Britons voted Lennon into eighth place. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Lennon number 38 on its list of "The Immortals: The Fifty Greatest Artists of All Time" and ranked The Beatles at number one.

As a guitarist maybe john lennon isn't categorized as a great guitarist but also just a standard guitarist.. he said that also. but how about his song?? you know there's so many deep meaning in all of his song such as imagine, give peace a chance, power to the people and war is over. it's so clearly that john's spoke about a peace of the world through his song.. just look of this world situation now especially on terrorism cases in mumbai india...which are killed more than 100 people.

The Murder of John Lennon

John lennon was murdered by david chapman On the night of 8 December 1980, Lennon was shot four times in the back (the fifth shot missed) in the entrance hallway of the Dakota by Mark David Chapman. Lennon had autographed a copy of Double Fantasy for Chapman earlier that same night.

Lennon was pronounced dead on arrival in the Emergency Room at the Roosevelt Hospital at 11:15 p.m. On the following day, 9 December 1980, Ono issued a statement: "There is no funeral for John. John loved and prayed for the human race. Please pray the same for him. Love, Yoko and Sean." Chapman pleaded guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced to 20 years to life. He is still in prison, 27 years since his arrest, having been denied parole four times.

Two days after his death, Lennon's body was cremated at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York, and his ashes were kept by Ono

Hello, my name is Ace and I am the founder and guitarist of the heavy metal band Hierophant. I started playing guitar on November 3, 2003 and haven't put the instrument down since then. I am obsessed with practicing and am completely dedicated to making Hierophant one of the greatest bands of all time as well as becoming a great and well-rounded musician/composer, guitarist, poet and writer. As a guitarist I've gotten quite a lot of publicity. I've had articles written about me in the Express-News and 210sa, I've been on the 99.5 KISS Lisle & Hahn Morning Show twice, I've been in promotional ads by Alamo Music Center featured in The EDGE magazine, and my band Hierophant has had photos featured in the Express New's Weekender.

Other than music, my interests lean towards poetry, writing, and occultism/metaphysics. I was raised by very down-to-earth, occultist/mystic parents who showed me how to live a sprititual life, not a religious life. The only belief I have, is the belief in myself. I despise the idea of religion and see it as a very controlling and conditioned way of life. However, I enjoy learning about spirituality and man's unique quest for knowledge has led me on the long and winding road to self-discovery. I am also very much into taking care of my health. I am a raw vegan, which means I do not eat cooked foods because cooking destroys the food's natural enzymes and nutritional value. Lots of people cannot comprehend why I would choose such a diet (I also do not eat meat, eggs, dairy, refined sugar, starches, and processed/fast foods) but it really is the most natural diet in the world and I believe that one is whatever they eat. It only makes sense that life = life and death = death; which ever you choose to consume is your choice. Your body is a vital machine, so let thy food be thy medicine and say no to the standard American diet, its the least you can do lol. Another interest I have is spreading the word to unaware individuals about the frightening occurences that are happening in our country and ultimately our planet. On a personal level, I consider myself a very easy-going, calm, and humorous visionary who hates drama, conflict, materialism, conformity, and quitters. Band: The Blake Babies, The Juliana Hatfield Three, Solo
It must have been the summer of 1993 - I was working at a Tower Records in Anaheim and a copy of Hatfield's "Become What You Are" was in the promo bin. While the manager was on a cocaine break in her office, I stole the promo disc. Coincidently, I was in my strange female-guitarist phase and instantly fell in love with Hatfield's endearingly thin voice. Plus, she looked a little like Jamie, a girl that had just ripped the still-beating heart from my chest and dropkicked it in the toilet. A stalker/musician relationship was born that day and even though she only charts in at number nine, there's still a small bit of me that thinks she may have made top five.
Weapon of Choice: The Gibson Les Paul Standard and the SG
Career Highpoint: It's a tie: The cover of Sassy magazine/her guest stint on the melancholy teen-cult hit, "My So-Called Life."
Fun Fact: Although she maintains she was a virgin in her early years as a rockstar (up until the mid-90's) she forgets to mention that she and fellow Bostonian Even Dando used to bang all the time.

8. Kathleen Hanna
Band: Bikini Kill, Le Tigre, The Fakes, Helter Skillet, Viva Knievel, Wondertwins, Suture, The Troublemakers
It's obvious Kathleen has absolutely no sense of humor whatsoever and she'd surely be pissed off if she knew she was on a "hottest female guitarist" list, but oh well. She's cute and smart and Le Tigre gets better with every release - I just wouldn't want to date her. Lighten up, baby - it's only rock and roll and yes, I like it. Is it any wonder why her current boyfriend, Beastie Boy's Adam Horovitz, is always on tour?
Weapon of Choice: Kathellen's been known to use a 1965 Gibson Melody Maker.
Career Highpoint: The whole Riot Grrrl thing - - she didn't start the movement, but she was the most famous person to come out of it.
Fun Fact: While they were backstage at the Lollapalooza music festival in Washington, D.C. on July 4, 1995 Courtney Love flicked a cigarette at Hanna, pelted her with candy, and punched her in the face. Hanna pressed charges and Love ultimately pleaded guilty to assault later that September.

7. Ruyter Suys
and: Nashville Pussy
I've never heard a Nashville Pussy song in my life and frankly, I really don't ever want to either. But I will tell you one thing, Ruyter Suys is one of the hottest and filthiest female guitarists ever. She fulfills my woman jailbreak fantasy.
Weapon of Choice: The Gibson SG
Career Highpoint: The point of every live Nashville Pussy gig when lead singer Blaine Cartwright pulls Ruyter's head back - while she's on her knees mind you - and forces a bottle of beer down her throat as she proceeds to guzzle its entire barley-based contents.
Fun Fact: She claims that the reason why she plays guitar is because of Courtney Love - not because Love's her idol, but for the opposite reason. "Courtney gives women a bad name in rock 'n roll and uses her guitar as a necklace not as an instrument." She follows that statement up with this: "Being a woman in a band can be hard sometimes because people will never look at me for my musicianship, they'll always look at the boobs." Did I mention she only plays gigs in lace bras and leather pants and the leather pants usually come off mid-set? Contradictions are incredibly sexy.

6. Kelley Deal
Band: The Breeders, The Amps, The Kelley Deal 6000
Obviously the more destructive of the two Deal sisters, Kelley has been in and out of rehab ever since the Breeders' gentle decline from the charts. Her technique isn't all that great (Kim her sister taught her basic chords of each song the day she needed to record them), but amidst all the drugs and booze, this little lady has kept her looks - unlike her ravished sister who's now just a shell of her former self.
Weapon of Choice: The Gibson Les Paul Deluxe
Career Highpoint: While opening for Nirvana in Miami sometime in 1994, she missed the tour bus to the next venue. Finally realizing that her sister wasn't at the gig, Kim Deal drew a life-sized picture of Kelley with a bottle of Jack Daniels in one hand and a cigarette in the other. The sisters both admit it was the best the Breeders had ever sounded.
Fun Fact: Our Kelley got busted for heroin when she had a FedEx package of horse was delivered to her house. Unfortunately for her, the package was sent as a covert sting operation courtesy of Ohio's chapter of the FBI.

5. Corin Tucker

Band: Sleater-Kinney
Corin would surely hate the fact that she's on a hottest anything list due to her feminist leanings, but it's not her choice, is it? Her technique is sloppy at best, but there's something about her I really like - I might have to do with the fact that she's the spitting image of my ex-girlfriend's sister, Melissa, who I always had a major crush on.
Weapon of Choice: A cherry-red or black¬†Danelectro DC59
Career Highpoint: When Sleater-Kinney released "Dig Me Out" in 1997, the band was being called the greatest punk band in the world by the likes of the Village Voice and Rolling Stone even though they never really delivered the goods.
Fun Fact: Although this feisty feminist firecracker was once a lesbian (she used to date fellow band member, Carrie Brownstein), she's left the sapho lifestyle and married filmmaker Lance Bangs. Confused sexual identity? That's hot!

4. Emma Anderson
Band: Lush, Sing-Sing
A completely underrated guitarist and songwriter. Sure, she's not the most proficient guitarist of the bunch - I've been known to winch during her solos - but what she lacks in ability, she makes up for in songwriting. She was one of the pioneers of the fabled shoegazer (a term I hate, but what are you gonna do?) phenomenon that came out of Camden. It's a little heartbreaking she has to work a 9 to 5 job again while her new band is second banana.
Weapon of Choice: 1972 Fender Telecaster Thinline
Career Highpoint: Dropping acid with the boys from the Jesus and Mary Chain while driving cross-country on the Lollapalooza tour.
Fun Fact: Now works a day job (when she's not touring with Sing-Sing) as a road manager for - gah - Duran Duran.

3. Cristina Martinez
Band: Boss Hog, Pussy Galore, Honeymoon Killers
Maybe the most elusive musician on this list - what do we know about Christina? Me? I know nothing other than the fact that she's been known to pick up a guitar while in the art-noise band, Pussy Galore and really then, all she did was bang her guitar around and create feedback. Still, in my rulebook, it a girl has at anytime strapped a guitar to her back while on stage, that right there constitutes as being a female guitar player.
Weapon of Choice: Whatever guitar is lying around at the moment.
Career Highpoint: The night Boss Hog debuted at CBGB in 1989, Cristina performed the entire set completely naked. Nice.
Fun Fact: Married to indie heartthrob, Jon Spencer.

2. Liz Phair
Band: This bird flies solo
C'mon, this one's obvious, isn't it? Love her or loathe her, she's still head and shoulders above the rest - she only didn't make first because I've never met her and this is after all, an extremely biased list. Some say she just started getting shit after she released her latest self-titled LP which was produced by the Matrix (Avril Lavigne's hitmakers), but it started way before that. I think her cover on Rolling Stone in 1993 when they dressed her in a tiny nightgown sealed her fate as all style and no substance. I say bullshit to that - "Exile in Guyville" is one of the few perfect albums of the '90s.
Weapon of Choice: A plethora of Fenders: several Mustangs and a couple Telecasters.
Career Highpoint: The aforementioned "Exile in Guyville" - flawless.
Fun Fact: She used to sell her charcoal drawings while in college at Wicker Park for beer money.

1. Miki Berenyi
Band: Lush
Easily the hottest of 'em all: half Japanese, half Hungarian, former art student, one-time 'zine publisher - this one has it all. Plus, she's the guitarist that inspired me to buy my first guitar - a battered gold Fender Jaguar that I bought off a meth user in San Dimas, which refused to stay in tune. First song I learned was the simple three-chord "Thoughtforms" off her band's 1989 EP, Scar and it's been half-assed musicianship for me ever since.
Weapon of Choice: A six-string Gibson 335 and a Gibson Firebird
Career Highpoint: Never bothered figuring out how to tune her guitars "That's what roadies are for," she once joked while backstage at Lollapalooza in Irvine, California. Personally, I agree with her.
Fun Fact: She and I enjoyed drinks with Weezer after Lush's aborted concert at Prince's now defunct Glam Slam club in Los Angeles (Lush blew out the house's PA system after three songs because Prince's system was poorly put together).

November 29^th 7 years ago, the music world lost one of the most talented musician, that was George Harrison, which is well known as the Beatles Guitarist and the travelling willbury guitarist where he also known as spike willbury, George died because of cancer. george has a unique guitar playing skill and i really like the way when he use to play a steel guitar. and also how he play a sitar.. 1 years after he passed away, the concert was held for him, it's called concert for george, so many musician participate on that concert such as paul mccartney, ringo starr, eric clapton, jeff lynn, tom petty and many more, oh yeah including his own song dhanni harrison. now are there any concert for him after 7 years he left us??

Beatles are must be the best and the most successfull band all over the time, there's no one could be surpass the beatles achievement in music.. and now what will the world's do to appreciate it?? in this case on 7 years after george harrison death?? or a concert for john lennon on 8^th december?? are there any concert held for them?? Pikasso Guitars

In 1984 Pat Metheny asked me to design and build a guitar with " as many strings as possible" The resulting collaboration was the Pikasso guitar. In 1992 I was asked by the late Scott Chinery to build a strictly acoustic version ofMetheny's Pikasso. Thus, Pikasso II. This second Pikasso was recently on display at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts in a show called "Dangerous Curves".

SPECIAL FEATURES ↑

Four necks. Two sound holes. Two access doors; one on the upper player's side and one atthe tail block. ( based on a panel door design by the brilliant -Abraham Wechter) The "WEDGE" TM1984 is a special feature I designed specifically for this instrument. The body is tapered so that the side closest to the player is thinner than the side that rests on the players knee, thus leaning the top back towards the player for a more aerial view. This is also more comfortable under the player's arm. This feature is available as an option on all my flattop guitars. This instrument was outfitted with a complete stateof the art piezo pickup system. (Designed and installed by Mark Herbert, Boston) This included a hexaphonic pickup on the 6 string section that allowed Metheny to access his Syclavier computersystem thus triggering any sound including sampled sounds. (Saxophone sampling can be heard on the song "Mob Job")Two mounting holes on the treble side (knee side) so that the guitar can be mounted on internal brass insets attaching to a stand, leaving hands free for playing or viewing. Brass side bridges made by guitar maker and machinist Bruce West. This instrument took 2 years to build (approximately 1000 hours), and when the 42 strings are strung up to high tension, the Pikasso is under approximately 1000 lbs pressure. How To Be Successful At Practicing The Guitar

Practice: to work on something repeatedly for the purpose of improvement.

That says a lot. It tells you what to do (work), how (repeatedly), and why (to improve).

Once you understand what "practice" is, you can proceed to learn how to use this new tool to your best advantage.

1. TUNE UP: It's important to play music at correct concert pitch.

2. WARM UP: Play through an easy piece, slowly. The idea here is to loosen up your muscles. Don't play anything that is hard or fast.

3. DIRECTION: Before you go any further, settle your mind upon what it is you wish to achieve today. At this point it's important to remember two things.

a. You are practicing to improve. this means getting results.

b. You learn the guitar, or grow into music, in the same way you grow into an adult - over a period of time. You may experience fast progress, or experience a slow gradual growth. There may even be times when you don't seem to progress at all.

However, if your practice program is directed towards results (whether they come fast or slow), you'll see them soon enough - providing you keep on working systematically at your study program. Don't be overly concerned about mistakes - if you keep looking for mistakes, you'll succeed in finding mistakes - and very little else.

4. TODAY'S PROBLEMS - YOUR CURRENT LESON: Here you confront new material that must be learnt. As you progress, this part of your practice schedule will change. That is to say, as you complete one assignment you will move on to the next. (Keep working with the thought in mind that you are practicing to improve).

5. REPEAT: In learnng the guitar there are three things you're doing.

a. Acquiring and storing information in your memory.

b. Developing muscles.

c. Developing muscular and mental co-ordination.

Usually you will be working on all three at the same time, although from time to time you will encounter information that uses only the first process.

You will make the best progress by repeating any new idea's over and over until it is properly internalized.

6. MAKE NOTES: Get out a piece of paper and write down your questions, problems, discoveries, things that seem to keep going wrong, things that seem to need extra work etc. If you make notes about the problem areas, you'll find answers to your questions, solve your problems, remember your discoveries, and save a lot of time.

8. WORK SLOW TO FAST: When learning is new, go slowly. As you improve. you will naturally play the assignment faster. Don't think about playing anything fast until you have properly worked it out.

9. RELAX: Stay as relaxed as you can. Steps five, seven and eight are especially helpful in doing this. You should also understand that when the material is new, you will naturally be more intense - you may even find your muscles tightening up. As you come to know the material you should be able to relax more, but you must think about it. Feel the muscles - try to make them relax. Remember too, that you can tense up just from an excess of concentration - so that's a good reason for taking regular breaks.

10. WORK ON THE PARTS: If you're having a problem with something, take it apart. With every few exceptions, you play the guitar with two hands. They both work together to produce one result. This means that the combination of the two moving together could be causing the problem. Work on developing right and left hand synchronization.

11. Review: At the end of your practice session, go over your lesson and give some extra attention where it's needed. This could also include past assignments that still need additional attention. Use a review as a way to wrap up you day's practice

Tips To Create a memorable guitar solo

Hello, :p now i'd like to share about a little thing that could be important for any guitarist in the world, i'm sure that all of guitar player want play guitar solo and the people who heard about it can remember his solo. this article was designed as an aid for composing a well produced solo. None of this guide's statements are set in concrete, feel free to deviate from the opinions and try things first, that is truly the best way to learn.

Steps

Sure, anybody can learn some pentatonic patterns and play licks over their favourite backing tracks. You can even use those licks for your own solo. But do you find your solo to be a bit bland? This is possibly because you lack in music education, and you may not know the notes on your fretboard. The trick to making a memorable solo is building a climax point. You really don't want to doodle around a scale and call it a solo: it will sound like a scale and not a solo. Here are the basic tips that you can use. And remember... Don't think of these rules as a 'must', this is just helpful advice

Tips

Always be aware of what chord you solo over, you don't want to sound random. If you do not know the notes in the chords, you might clash when you execute the lick you want to play. Really try to understand chord theory and the notes.

Try not to use the same rhythm of notes to much: predictable = boring.

Obviously learn the notes on the fretboard! People don't lie when they say it opens a lot of possibilities for you!

When you learn a scale, learn the modes. This will give you a lot of versatility and spice in your solos. Also, don't be afraid to play outside of the solo, for example chromatic lines; It gives good contrast to a good solo.

Exotic scales are really fun to explore. Try randomly picking a scale you have never heard before, and learn its modes and functions. A lot of the greats use exotic solos to sound original.

If there is a note that sounds good that's not in the correct scale, who cares! It's all about sounding good, not what is right.

Always listen to different types of music, even rap music can give some ideas for chords/note etc.

Try not to bend your notes too much, to some people it can get stale after a while, but with that said... if it sounds good to you, it's okay.

When playing arpeggios, don't just chuck them in for the sake of it being fodder for your solo, play from the 3rd notes of the arpeggio, mix half of an arpeggio with some pull-offs hammer ons... Other licks, arpeggios have a lot of harmonic function, use them to your advantage

Warnings

Try not to get over technical, remember... You want to have fun.

Try not to sound too much like another guitarist, unless you want to contribute yourself to a cover band of some sort.

Always make sure your guitar is clean, you want your guitar to be in top condition, while executing your music for maximum benefit.

Don't let a famous guitarist's opinion affect your way of thinking about your music, we are all human...

Never put down someone else's music, it's OK not to like it. But if someone is lacking and you can see it, give them your knowledge, even lend some licks!

Don't get lazy with guitar, play at least 20 minutes a day if you don't want to sound weak.
